Although Tony Tyler, CEO head of the International Air Transport Association (Iata) sees some signs of hope, he is convinced that airfreight will still have a poor 2015.
“Early signs of improvement in export orders may bode well for trade and air cargo but this is unlikely to prevent air cargo finishing 2015 on a low note,” he said in a statement accompanying the October Iata stats.
Global demand only rose 0.5% in October, according to the Iata monthly airfreight figures.
And, despite uncertain market demand, cargo carriers have still been adding capacity, the association added. And this has led to a three-year low for load factors – which have been at around 44%, the lowest since 2009.
