Business Development/Key Account Manager

An international airfreight business is seeking an experienced Key Account Manager/Sales Executive with a strong operational background to join its Cape Town team. This is an excellent opportunity for a logistics professional who understands airfreight operations, enjoys building customer relationships and can confidently manage a small team while driving business growth.

The successful candidate will take ownership of an existing customer portfolio, ensuring excellent service delivery while developing and maintaining strong client relationships. You will also be responsible for a new business sales target with the opportunity to manage 2 staff members.  

Duties:

• Manage and maintain an existing portfolio of customers, ensuring consistent service delivery and customer satisfaction.
• Source new business.
• Build and strengthen relationships with existing clients while identifying opportunities to grow accounts and generate additional business.
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Cape Town office, ensuring operational efficiency and effective service delivery.
• Manage and support two staff members, including an Airfreight Controller and a Driver.
• Coordinate sales and operational activities to ensure customer requirements are met efficiently and professionally.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen customer retention and contribute to the overall success of the branch.

Requirements:

• Minimum 4 - 5 years of experience within the airfreight industry, within a similar role.
• A solid operational background within airfreight is essential.
• Previous experience in customer relationship management, key account management or sales within the airfreight industry.
• The ability to manage staff while balancing operational responsibilities and customer-facing activities.
