The Zimbabwe government is in the process of installing closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras at all of the entry points into the country as part of its efforts to crack down on fraud.
The state-owned newspaper, The Herald, cited Minister of Home affairs, Dr Ignatius Chombo, as saying that fraud and corruption were “particularly rampant” at the Beitbridge border post.
Chombo has embarked on a countrywide tour to meet immigration officers and get their buy-in for his campaign to end corruption.
In addition to the CCTV cameras, other measures to cut down on fraud include the introduction of scanners and check-point devices.
