IMPORTS AND exports into Zambia are the focus of Jet Park-based CML which reports brisk trade on the route as the economy of that country strengthens. The company started in the UK focusing on the UK/Zambia route as its main area of operation, says Stuart Deans. The South African company was launched at the end of 2000, based in Jet Park with warehousing facilities on site. It services the South Africa, Central Africa, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Namibian market requirements for the other CML companies. According to Deans the main business line is the handling of the South African re-forwarding aspects of Zambian import and export traffic, both containerised commercial cargo and break bulk movements through the ports. Another mainline business is the export of South African origin cargo, consolidation and full loads, to the market destinations in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Namibia. CML (Zambia) is based in Ndola, on the Copperbelt, with a network of offices throughout Zambia and at all major border posts. “Great emphasis is placed on communication between offices, good service, and professional cargo handling capabilities,” said Deans. There are plans to expand the company and to increase its market share in local consolidation, he said.
