Zambia Airways to be relaunched

The former national airline was liquidated by the Zambian government in 1995 due to the worsening economic climate in the country.

Ethiopian Airlines and Skytrax finalised a shareholders agreement with the government of Zambia yesterday for the relaunch of Zambia Airways.

The Zambian government will be the majority shareholder in Zambia Airways (55%) with Ethiopian Airlines holding a 45% stake. Once relaunched, the airline will initially serve national and regional destinations before embarking on international flights.
