On 25 July the World Trade Organisation (WTO) director-general (DG) convened a meeting of all WTO members to discuss the potential issues that members wanted to take forward in the WTO’s future negotiating work, including in the context of the WTO’s 11th Ministerial Conference in 2017.
According to the WTO, members took the opportunity to update each other on the consultations that had been taking place in recent weeks, and the DG reported on the discussions he had held with WTO members in Geneva and at ministerial level, through bilateral visits and at ministerial meetings, including UNCTAD 14 in Kenya, the G20 trade ministers in the People’s Republic of China, and APEC trade ministers in Peru.
