Worldwide executives debate supply chain issues

SUPPLY CHAIN management emerged as one of the key issues at Bax Global's two-day international conference hosted in Sandton recently.
The aim of the conference, said Belgium-based vice president of Bax Global, Eddy Raes, was to keep staff worldwide up to date on company trends and latest developments.
We dedicated a lot of time to supply chain management because this is, for Bax Global, the way forward. Bax as a company operating globally, has put a lot of effort into this during the past three years and we wanted to make our branches as well as our agents aware of this. We have been very successful and proof of this is that our Bax Asia profits have increase by double digits because of this, despite the recent financial crisis there, he said.
Bax Europe is also big into supply chain management and the recent acquisition of Cleton in The Netherlands was indicative of this, said Raes.
Bax globally assists its clients with their supply chain management We sit with them, discuss their needs, plan and find the best solutions for them, he said.
The conference was held in South Africa for the first time to show Bax's confidence in this country.
South Africa is looking very positive at the moment. Bax has a lot invested in South Africa and the conference has reinforced our commitment to the country. South Africa has set the tone. It has shown the world, and particularly the rest of Africa, that despite social and economic problems, it has developed and grown, said Raes.
