With more cargo capacity than any other, a massive cut in fuel consumption and a resultant 35% cut in carbon dioxide emission, the world’s largest container ship, the MSC Oscar, is also the most efficient ship in the world, according to MSC GM, Diego Aponte.

The ship has a length of 394 metres and a capacity of about 19 224 TEUs.

She will sail under the Panama flag, having been registered in the Panama Registry under the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) number 9703291; construction year 2014; gross registered tonnage: 192 237t; and net registered tonnage: 111 432t.

“We work in a competitive environment where there is fierce competition and the only way for our ships to counter freight rates and rising oil prices and fuel costs is to build larger and more efficient ships,” said Aponte.
