Wines pull in R6.96m

RAY SMUTS THE AUCTION paddles have been ‘stowed’ for another year and chequebooks a tad thinner after R6.96 million was laid out for South Africa’s finest wines at the 32nd Nederburg Auction last weekend. It was by no means a record auction, lower prices attributed to a correction in the market after prices shot up 90% last year. But compared with two years ago, it shows a healthy 42% price hike over this period.
