Which are the world’s safest airlines?

Cathay Pacific Airlines, Emirates Airline and Taiwan’s EVA Air have taken the top three spots respectively in the latest top 60 safest global airlines report by Munich-based specialist aviation safety company Jet Airliner Crash Data Evaluation Centre (Jacdec).

Jacdec is a global source of professional aviation safety information offering details of more than 3 500 airlines and 30 000 different accidents or incidents in its data portfolio.

There are no African airlines on the list which evaluates carriers’ safety standards according to several factors, including the use of smaller (less equipped) airports, high terrain, limited airport infrastructure, a network of short and medium routes, ageing fleets, a lack of state governance, political instability and severe weather such as storms and snow/ice.

Below, according to its safety records, are Jacdec’s latest top 20 airlines:
