Zimbabwe hosted the Customs Administrations of the East and Southern African (ESA) region’s workshop on the Harmonised System Infrastructure Support/Train-the-Trainer in Harare from 20-24 April. The workshop was attended by 22 customs officers representing seven countries of the ESA region, namely, Burundi, Kenya, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
According to the World Customs Organisation (WCO) the group discussed the use and future prospects of the Harmonised System (HS) and some practical cases of tariff classification. The participants were trained on the principles for classifying goods, as well as the Guidelines and the Diagnostic Tool on Tariff Classification Work and Related Infrastructure.
