Macro 2000 and Forte Warehouse Solutions (FWS) have officially joined forces with promises of bigger and better things to come.
The two companies have had a close working relationship in the past year, says Anthea van Breemen who has joined FWS as a director.
She told FTW that the merger made sense to all parties involved allowing both companies to develop and grow.
With all of the support team at Macro 2000 now under the FWS banner, the company will in future focus solely on development while FWS will be responsible for sales, implementation and system support.
“We had reached a point at Macro 2000 where we had to make a decision as to how we were going to grow the business further,” said Van Breemen, one of the founders of the Cape Town headquartered company which first opened its doors in 1978. “This move will allow Macro 2000 to focus on its core function – the development of comprehensive ranges of warehouse management software.”
FWS, on the other hand, specialises in the business processes and requirements within different disciplines of the warehouse industry.
“We serve as a bridge consultancy between industry expectations and software offerings within the warehouse industry,” said director Renko Bergh.
Both he and Van Breemen emphasised the benefits of joining forces.
“Each company will now work towards its strength,” said Bergh. “Macro 2000 will develop the software and FWS will sell, implement and offer the support for that software.”
According to Van Breemen the move has been well received by industry. “With the amalgamation, we have been able to introduce new systems and set up a dedicated support desk for customers.”
This, said Bergh, would allow for improved service delivery to customers while it would ultimately lead to the growth of the Macro 2000 installed base.
Both companies have also extended their reach with representation not only in Cape Town but also Johannesburg and Namibia.
“At the same time the two companies can now regulate best practice while learning from each other,” said Bergh.
