Walvis Bay handles new bridge for Botswana

It will take around 160 truckloads to move components of a 1.2-kilometre-long bridge from the Botswana dry port in Walvis Bay to its destination in northern Botswana. The 10 720 tons of project cargo was shipped to Walvis Bay by the Nomadic Milde. Work started on preparations for the bridge across the Okavango River near Mohembo in November 2016. Situated close to the border with Namibia, the bridge will replace ferry services that connect villages to the east of the river to the rest of Botswana. It will also speed up logistics and help reduce the cost of transporting cargo in the area. The bridge is due for completion this year.
