LEONARD NEILL KEVIN WAKEFORD, former ceo of the South African Chamber of Business (SACOB) has been appointed chief executive of the beleaguered Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC) on a three-month temporary basis. Wakeford moved into the hot seat on December 1, taking over from Mcebisi Jonas who, despite having been granted a return to work order by the Grahamstown High Court after he had been suspended from the same post, was once again suspended by provincial Economic Affairs MEC Andre de Wet at the end of November. Although the court order reinstated him for a short period, Jonas has been prohibited from working by De Wet, and is now suspended from future duties.
