In a move that adds muscle to its service portfolio, neutral ocean freight consolidator Vanguard Logistics Services (Vanguard) has announced the acquisition of CHC Supply Chain Management (CHC).

This follows Vanguard’s acquisition last year of independent NVOCC International Liner Agencies (ILA).

“The addition of CHC delivers a depth of expertise, services and cargo management for our customers shipping into and out of South Africa,” comments Thurso Barendse, Vanguard Global CFO.

“CHC brings over 30 years of history in supply chain management in South Africa, with customs-licensed container depots and warehouses in Durban, Johannesburg, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth.  With nearly 20 000 sqm under management, CHC delivers the full range of solutions including groupage operations, FCL management, customs stops and detentions, warehousing and transport to the Vanguard network,” says Rod Taylor, Vanguard SA managing director.
