Unitainer goes 'seven high' with Hyster stackers

Clive Emdon UNITAINER HAS just taken delivery of two H18.00-12EC empty container handlers (ECHs) that enable the company to stack empty containers up to seven-high at its depot in Bayhead, Durban. The stackers were delivered by Barloworld Equipment Handling to an ecstatic Unitainer GM Michael Fry. “This is an absolutely fantastic machine,” he said. “They have instilled a renewed sense of pride in our drivers.” Gerhard van Niekerk, senior area sales manager for Barloworld Equipment Handling, explained that the greater the stacking height, the greater the demand placed on the stability of the machine, the strength of the mast and the container spreader, as well as the operational speed and operator’s visibility and comfort. “These are all areas in which Hyster excels,” he said. Fry described the back-up and service support from Barloworld Equipment Handling as “top-notch”. Unitainer is a division of Grindrod. Fry says Grindrod has enjoyed a relationship with Barloworld Equipment Handling for many years, operating a fleet of old Hyster equipment in the 1980s and 1990s.
