A recent addition to the services
provided by groupage operator,
United Maritime Logistics, is a
competitive ‘full container’ rate,
as well as attractive discounts off
inland freight charges within
the USA.
The company has also added
a breakbulk service for out-ofgauge
cargo.
Claude Nuttall, executive
director of UML, told FTW that
more customers had requested a
service for cargo that cannot be
loaded in normal general purpose
containers. “For that reason we
have set up a ‘special projects’
department specifically geared to
handle cargo of this nature.
“We anticipate steady growth
on the USA to South Africa route,
due to the specialised products
that US manufacturers have to
offer,” he added.
UML offers a weekly seafreight
consolidation service from New
York to Cape Town, connecting
shipments from all over the USA.
The transit time from New
York to Cape Town is 23 days.
