A collision between the 114-metre vessel, MV Forward, and the 224m MV Wadi Alkarnak suspended shipping traffic in the Bosphorus Strait for an hour on Monday.

According to Turkey’s maritime safety authorities a rudder malfunction caused the collision in the middle of the 30-kilometre-long, 700-metre-wide Strait, one of the three waterways that connect the Aegean and Mediterranean seas to the Black Sea.

It was confirmed that both vessels were damaged, but there were no reports of any casualties.
