Creating a partnership
where there is synergy and a
common goal is what makes
the difference in the recently
announced association
between Turners Shipping
and BDP International.
According to Conrad
Cochrane-Murray,
managing director of
Turners Shipping, it has
been a partnership in the
making for the past two
years. “BDP International is
a very good fit for Turner.
Not only do we have similar
clients, but also share the
same goals and vision for
our business.”
Having cut its teeth in
the freight forwarding
industry, Turners Shipping
is set on becoming a global
logistics provider, a move
the company believes can
be achieved with the help of
the international company
BDP International.
“We want to be able to
provide our customers with
an overall logistics solution
rather than just a freight
forwarding service. In this
regard BDP International
brings extensive knowledge
and experience to the
table,” says Cochrane-
Murray. “Their extensive
international network can
only benefit our clients,
while their IT systems
will no doubt give us a
competitive advantage.”
Anton Harjung, managing
director Central and
Eastern Europe for BDP
International, says the
importance of IT systems
cannot be under-estimated.
“These systems must
however be able to give the
customer more and that is
what our system does. It
goes beyond tracking and
tracing, while it is also proactive.
The system ensures
a fast and efficient service
giving the customer a
competitive advantage.”
Visiting the country in
November from his base
in Germany, Harjung said
cementing the Turners
Shipping and BDP
International relationship
was critical to ensure a
smooth transformation.
“This is about developing
effective trade lanes to and
from South Africa,” he
said. “Our vision is to give
our clients a service that
is superior and we believe
that is possible through
this partnership, as the two
companies share the same
goals and have a definite
synergy.”
