TRUCKS CONSTITUTED 9% of the total vehicle accidents over the festive season.
A total of 67 trucks were involved in crashes which resulted in the loss of 88 lives.
It was the only category of vehicles which experienced a whopping 134,13% increase from last year, but this was due to the single crash in Mpumalanga where a 10-ton truck overturned killing 51 members of the Chego family who were on their way to a family reunion.
