JOY ORLEK NELSPRUIT IS the most recent area of expansion for the Transit Group which has just opened an office at Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport. Catering for the overnight express market in under-serviced outlying areas, Transit has had its eye on Mpumalanga for some time. "We respond to customer demand," says Transit Group managing member Tim Snell, "and have already seen keen interest in services connecting Nelspruit with Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town. The opening of a Nelspruit office complements the company's national growth. It has offices in Richards Bay, Bloemfontein, Kimberley, Port Elizabeth, George, East London, Pietersburg, Cape Town and Johannesburg. Johannesburg – Cape Town remains the most successful airfreight express route by far, says Snell. "Because of the distance, roadfreight can't compete. But we're also seeing encouraging growth on other routes, like Port Elizabeth – East London." The majority of Transit's business comes from courier companies, moving a range of cargo including documentation, various spares and medical supplies.
