JOY ORLEK LANSERIA -BASED charter airline Tramon International has acquired a Boeing 727-200 freighter which it will begin operating this month (February). “There’s been a lot of interest from other airlines in using the capacity,” says Tramon’s Daniel Coetzer, who has noticed particular interest on the Harare route. “Whether this will translate into firm cargo orders remains to be seen, but at the moment we’re fielding a lot of enquiries.” While the freighter will cater for general cargo, the company has continued to service its traditional dangerous goods market into Africa. “We are the only airline specially accredited for the carriage of dangerous goods, and are continuing to reap the rewards of this specialist expertise. “In general we’ve seen the market starting to pick up and our outlook for the year ahead is a positive one.”
