Transnet Port Terminals (TPT), in partnership with one of its contractors Tirepoint, handed over donations to the value of R20 000 to the victims of the recent floods in Durban.

The donations included non-perishable food, cleaning products and blankets and was possible through a supplier development contractual agreement that allows for a percentage of the total contractual value to go towards community upliftment.

“We hope the food parcels and blankets that we have donated to the affected families and the NGOs of KwaZulu Natal will provide hope and sustenance for those in dire need,” said TPT supply chain management executive manager, Thandi Sabelo.

According to a statement released yesterday (Tuesday), the donations were handed over to the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry who identified the affected families and NGOs (non-governmental organisations) that would benefit from them.

“We will continue to support and contribute to the upliftment of our communities where possible,” added Sabelo.
