E-tolling is unlikely to be implemented in Gauteng before the September Supreme Court hearing involving the Opposition to Urban Tolling Alliance (Outa) and the South African National Roads Agency Ltd (Sanral) has been concluded. “The court hearing is set for the end of September and judgment is not expected on the first day,” said Gavin Kelly, spokesman for the Road Freight Association (RFA). He said another factor to be taken into consideration was the fact that the president had yet to sign the bill bringing e-tolling into operation. “At the same time if Outa loses their Supreme Court of Appeal action they could still appeal.”
