Third shift under consideration

PORTNET IS currently considering an incentive scheme for port operations staff, particularly in the container terminal, based on their level of output.
But negotiations with labour are still underway, and Morwe believes that different incentives will need to apply to different business units.
On the question of working hours, Portnet is considering introducing a third shift, and according to Morwe labour and management recently discussed this very issue at a 'bosberaad'.
We need to work with labour to find ways of improving value to the customer and ensuring that we protect jobs.
We have also started talking around the concept of a duty manager to ensure that there is always someone at management level available after hours.
