AS AGENTS move into the realm of logistics, third party warehousing becomes a vital issue.
But outsourcing will only benefit all parties involved if a relationship is created where all processes are administered properly and transparency of activity is possible, says Compu-Clearing's Alwyn Robbertse.
To address these key principles, Compu-Clearing recently launched a modular third party warehousing system developed in line with
specifications from logistics service providers.
Its features include production of goods received notes, picking slips and delivery notes; tracking of products based on user defined
documentation related to specific products; tracking of products by
serial number; a flexible function to invoice the customer of the third party logistics service provider based on movement in the warehouse or mass of products stored over a specified period of time; and a facility to allow the customer of the third party logistics service provider to access information on stock movement and stock levels via the internet.
Further development is currently underway to incorporate bar code scanning and image scanning to add to the existing POD tracking
facilities, interfaces with accounting and bonded warehousing software, and facilities to produce commercial invoices on behalf of the customer of the third partly logistics service provider.
