‘Them Stones’ celebrates 70-year milestone

BRIDGESTONE South Africa has celebrated its 70th anniversary of Firestone tyre production at the company’s Port Elizabeth plant. Since its establishment in 1936 the Port Elizabeth plant has witnessed many changes in South Africa and achieved some significant milestones. These include the manufacturing of the first low tubeless tyre in South Africa in the 1950s, production of OTR tyres in 1963, the 'Them Stones' Firestone advertising campaign and the opening of the successful SuperQuick Franchise in the 1980s.
