Transnet is already actively marketing the port of Ngqura as a hub. The marketing is built around a “value proposition” that positions Ngqura as a world-class port. Among the promises being made by Transnet are: ● The port will have two to five cranes per vessel ● Productivity will be at 28 moves per crane per hour ● Container stacking will be by rubber tyred gantries – ensuring greater productivity within the port ● 16.5-metre draft at berths ● 18-metre draft at entrance ● Scheduled berthing ● 2 hours guaranteed berthing time ● Berth occupancy to be capped at 65%
