The final curtain

ROUGH SEAS off the coast of East London have finally taken their toll on the small cargo vessel 'Sagitarius' which ran aground at Leaches Bay south of the city on July 19. The ship broke up last Wednesday, scattering the remains of its maize cargo along the shoreline. Poor weather had hampered all salvage attempts, and the company which had bought the remaining cargo, all maize in 50kg bags, was able to remove only 100 of these, leaving 47 000 still aboard when the vessel ended up in two parts.
