Thai moves home base to new Bangkok airport Successful first four months recorded

ALAN PEAT ASIAN AIR carrier, Thai Airways, reports a successful first four months with the Johannesburg-Bangkok service launched last October, according to Anne Sanders, MD of GSAfrica Airline Services, local general sales agents for the airline. It has also moved its home base to the new Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok – with the airport serving as a gateway for Thai Airways' extensive network, including Japan, China, India, Australasia, Europe and the US. The new terminal provides eight dangerous goods rooms and a 10 000m2 perishable centre with 34 cool rooms – all guarded by 330 CCTV cameras and consignments monitored by 17 x-ray machines.
