Eskom has announced that there will be temporary road closures on the R21 freeway, at the R562 Olifantsfontein and M31 Nellmapius interchange, on September 9.

A statement released by the power utility noted that this was due to the stringing of conductors over the freeway.

“This work is required due to the Apollo-Croydon 275-kilovolt transmission line, which tripped in May this year after a truck hit one of the towers causing the line conductor to come down,” said an Eskom spokesperson.

Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes such as Botha Avenue, Rigel Road and Delmas Road.
