Temp recorder to add GPS feature

ACCURATE RECORDING of temperatures in transit plays a crucial role in maintaining the cold chain, which is why local shippers are fast taking note of the US-manufactured T’NT range of temperature recorders. “Latest developments include data transfer by radio frequency to a hand-held receiver,” says Trevor Watson of Durban-based distributors Temprecord Services. “Data can then be printed on a portable dockside printer for immediate detailed scrutiny or downloaded to PC for later reference, emailing or fax.” The company provides free download software available anywhere in the world off the web, as well as sophisticated Data Management Software at very low cost, he added. A new development due to be released soon is a temperature recorder with GPS. This is able not only to record temperatures in transit but also to track the whereabouts of the product. “There’s a myth in the industry about reliability of recorders standing up in court,” says Watson. “The only evidence accepted in court is that verified by an independent laboratory. Assurance from manufacturers lies in the standards of manufacture, specification of components and quality control,” he added. In the USA, T’NT customers include the likes of WalMart, Del Monte and Dole Fresh with Del Monte and Dole using thousands of T’NT digital recorders each month.
