Tariff Amendments - 2 August 2002

The rate of duty on wheaten gluten, whether or not dried, classifiable under tariff subheading 1109.00 is reduced from 20% to free. The tariff subheadings 4802.5 and 4802.57 have been substituted for tariff subheadings 4802.52 and 4802.59 in respect of the anti-dumping in item 210.02 with retrospective effect to 1 January 2002. The rebate provisions 460.07/4011.91 and 460.07/ 4011.61 in respect of new pneumatic tyres of rubber having a 'herring bone' or similar tread, verified by the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) that they can be used on agricultural tractors, is withdrawn under tariff subheading 4011.91 and inserted under tariff subheading 4011.61 as new pneumatic tyres of rubber having a 'herring bone' or similar tread, having a rim size of less than 91cm and verified by the SABS that it can only be used on agricultural or forestry vehicles and machines with retrospective effect to 1 January 2002. Anti-dumping Notice - 2 August 2002 Notice of the initiation of a sunset review of the anti-dumping duties on circuit breakers, classifiable under tariff subheading 8536.20, originating in or imported from Hager and Groupe Schneider of France and originating in or imported from Bticino of Italy of their Agent B Trading of Switzerland. Response due by 3 September 2002. Notice of the termination of the sunset review of the anti-dumping duties on tapered roller bearings, classifiable under tariff subheadings 8482.20 and 8482.50, originating in or imported from the United States of America. Tariff Applications The proposed reduction of the duty on chain-driven, six or eight-wheeled vehicles with skid steering systems operated through an integral gearbox and differential unit fitted with diesel engines of a cylinder capacity not exceeding 1 000cc, classifiable under tariff subheading 8703.31.91, from 40% ad valorem to free of duty. The proposed reduction of the duty on telephone sets and parts thereof, classifiable under tariff subheading 8517.11, 8517.19.10 and 8517.90.10, from 10% ad valorem to free of duty.
