Swazi Rail to expand dry port

MBABANE - Swaziland Railway will expand its dry port this year, increasing its capacity to handle containerised traffic and transforming the look of the Matsapha Industrial Estate, whose centre is occupied by the railway’s Inland Container Depot. “This is essential for our strategy of increasing containerised traffic, which is our focus now. We own a parcel of land that we will be using, and we will be acquiring the rest from government,” Stephen Ngubane, director of operations and marketing, told FTW. The dry port’s most recent expansion was financed in part by Taiwan. Financing for this year’s expansion is still under consideration.
