Swazi hauliers slate high fuel prices

James Hall MBABANE - Swaziland’s Petrol Price Committee has summoned transport operators for a special meeting this month to thrash out grievances about escalating fuel prices. “Gone are the days when South African motorists and truckers detoured to Swaziland to take advantage of our low diesel and petrol prices,” says Magwagwa Mdluli, Minister of Natural Resources, where the Petrol Price Committee is housed. A litre of petrol in Swaziland is now R3,70, on par with Gauteng and higher than in some other areas of South Africa. But diesel fuel costs R3,55, as opposed to R3,23 in South Africa.
