MBABANE - Sharp Freight, operating out of the Matsapha Industrial Estate, is now offering a service to clear cars at border posts for South African and other motor vehicle owners who wish to register their cars in Swaziland.
The service will be useful to many Swazis who prefer to purchase new and used cars in South Africa, where a greater variety of vehicles is available, and import them into the kingdom.
"We will pick up any car in South Africa, and deliver it in Swaziland, managing customs clearance at the border," says Gideon Mlotshwa, managing director of Sharp Freight. In addition to customs clearance, police clearance is handled. Car owners importing their vehicles complain that border post queues and procedures can eat up a day or more. Sharp Freight service will prove a time saver.
This week, Swazi police were mounting roadblocks to check all cars bearing South African registration plates, and those not properly cleared through customs were impounded. The exercise is repeated a few times a year.
