THE VIABILITY of establishing a cargo facility at the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport has come under the spotlight once again with the launch by KPMG of a survey to establish the existing and potential export cargo within the catchment area of the proposed facility. Its advocates believe the airport has the potential to lower costs of getting products to overseas markets and will provide exporters with a convenient and dedicated local export hub. “The facility will dovetail with Government’s strategy to promote economic development, and because it is centrally situated for the region, it will minimise transport costs," a spokesman said.
