A TANZANIAN stowaway, perhaps emboldened by the vision of a new life across the ocean, found his hopes dashed when he made the wrong choice of ship in Richards Bay this week.
After deciding on which ship he would make his departure from the green shores of Zululand, the man sneaked on board late at night and hid himself away from prying eyes. Unfortunately for him his choice wasn't that clever - the ship was the Portnet dredger Ingwenya, whose travels seldom take her any further than the harbour breakwaters. Later the next afternoon the crew found the unwanted passenger hiding away in the lifeboat and summoned the local border police unit which was waiting to interview him when Ingwenya returned to the quayside.
