SPOORNET IS a vastly different organisation from what it was a few years ago - not only in philosophy but in staff make-up.
The reshaping of the organisation has involved some 2000 staff at management level, according to c.e. Braam le Roux.
We have a firm policy that we would like to address the wrongs of the past by having employment equity on the basis of chasing certain targets.
The first target is for a third of the staff to represent minority groups, and this to happen as quickly as possible. After that we will develop internal talent until we reach 50% and after that we will have no preference but will concentrate on developing people from the inside.
But Le Roux is adamant that there will be no compromise on quality. And we won't jeopardise self-confidence by putting people into jobs they can't do.
In the process there will have to be a change of mindset because we are chasing commercial success through strength and diversity.
Spoornet won't compromise on quality in affirmative action drive, says Le Roux
