Spoornet re-negotiates Maputo rail concession

HOPE OF further progress on the Ressano Garcia – Maputo stretch of the Maputo Corridor has been rekindled. Spoornet is said to be in the process of re-negotiating the concession agreement, according to Maputo’s CPI Investor’s Intelligence Newsletter. Sources close to the company say that the principles have been drafted, but FTW was unable to establish specific time frames for this. The Ressano Garcia/Maputo railway line was concessioned to a consortium led by Spoornet about two years ago but there was little activity thereafter.
