‘Hugely versatile’ abnormal trailer fleet PROJECT specialist TLD Group will take on anything that everybody else is scared of, says m.d. Tim Driman. Handling project cargo to-and-from anywhere in the world, TLD Group was founded in 1981 and quickly developed into abnormal load transporters - soon followed by a move into freight project management. Adding global muscle is TLD’s membership of the Multi-modal Transport Group (MTG), a consortium of independent freight operators. The group now trades under four banners - TLD Transport, TLD Harbour Carriers, Interlogix (licensed removers in bond), and TLD Marine (classified as “Car Terminal No 3” in Durban - and with a licence to handle uncleared cargo). Added to that, the group also has a licence for unlimited open air storage. Interlogix now acts as a service provider to the clearing and forwarding industry, with a customs’ consignor bond of R20-million allowing it to handle any bonded cargo both within and across SA borders. Driman is also proud of his fleet of 39 abnormal trailers - large parts of it designed and developed in-house. These range from 16.5-metre long Super Decks (an in-house design) to 20-m fully-supported deck trailers - with lowbeds down to 65-centimetres high. With 13-ton axles, all TLD’s trailers are licensed to carry containers up to 42-tons, and makes them a “hugely versatile” fleet,” according to Driman. “We also have a very specialised staff who will supervise the load/discharge of ships. “We escort our own vehicles, and provide supervision anywhere in sub-Saharan Africa.”
