Special unit allows logs to be containerised

Can be used for return cargoes LOGS CAN now be fully containerised for sea transport, following the launch of the patented LogRac by the Ahrenkiel Group - marketed in Southern Africa by SA agents ALS Agencies. This rugged unit is designed to carry logs, pipes, timber and similar products - and, with a tare of 5 metric tonnes, offers a maximum gross weight of 40 tonnes. The product has just successfully completed extensive trials in New Zealand, and a series of LogRacs is being built in the Far East to supply the major NZ timber companies with a new door-to-door logistics option in their distribution of logs into Asia. LogRacs can be stacked up to 7 high (at 30.5 tonnes) and offer the benefits of less handling and resultant damage; faster loading/discharge; negate the need for specialised log handling equipment; make for easier administration of consignments; and allow for small parcels to be shipped on any liner vessel. The LogRac can be used for return cargoes, or can be nested in return parcels of four units.
