One of the most prominent charity events on South Africa’s annual logistics calendar yet again managed to raise a substantial sum for various beneficiaries at November’s Shipwreckers event.

According to Land and Sea Shipping – host of the event which is always planned according to a theme to drum up enthusiasm for Shipwreckers – R33 000 was raised.

Patrons from various sub-sectors of the transport and supply chain industry flocked to the Jozi Gin Bar in Bryanston for the gathering, dressed to the nines in Great Gatsby style finery – this year’s theme.

More importantly, the jovial attendees all dug deep to contribute to a worthy cause.

In the end, National Sea Rescue, Johannesburg Children’s Home and Reach for a Dream all received a substantial sum from the total raised.

Of course, those who really went to town in living up to Shipwreckers’ theme, competed for a best-dressed prize.

Since Land and Sea Shipping relaunched Shipwreckers earlier this year, it has once more taken pride of place on the annual almanac for the freight community.

As more and more people cotton on to the benevolence of Shipwreckers, it keeps getting bigger.
