‘Tis the season to be jolly, ‘tis the season to give, and what better way is there to enter the season of good cheer than to go “hear hear” as the supply chain and logistics industry raises its glasses to a great cause on November 27.
The hearty heave-ho from the last charity event in July saw people pulling together as ‘pirates’ from all walks of the cargo community —shipping lines, clearing and forwarding agents, warehousing, transportation, financial service providers, airlines, and importers and exporters.
One could easily have thought that with so many eye patches, black bandanas, hooks and peg legs around, the party was all about rum drinking and ransacking.
In fact, it was exactly the opposite.
Hearts were opened and freight folk gave freely to raise R80 000 for beneficiaries such as the National Sea Rescue Institute, Johannesburg Children’s Home, Reach for a Dream Jicama 89, and Manger Care Centre.
Shipwreckers, which was forced into a hiatus during Covid-19, is well and truly back with a bang thanks to the likes of Siva Pather, managing director of Land and Sea Shipping.
The whole logistics industry has worked hard behind the scenes to make Shipwreckers a reality again.
Thanks to the collaborative efforts of all concerned, this charity event has become the premier go-to event for benevolence among logistics and supply chain decision-makers.
As such, Shipwreckers ticks all the boxes for networking as it attracts the who’s who in the cargo zoo.
The committee has also stuck to its word to keep going with fun themes, and this time it’s “The Great Gatsby.”
So whether you come as Jay Gatsby, Daisy Buchanan or F Scott Fitzgerald, get into the swing of things on Wednesday the 27th at Jozi Gin Bar in Sandton.
