Seasoned professional heads up WBCG

The Walvis Bay Corridor Group (WBCG) has confirmed that Edward Shivute has been appointed acting chief executive officer of the port’s marketing body effective from December 1.

His appointment comes after Mbahupu Hippy Tjivukua, former CEO of the WBCG, left to replace Dr Conrad Lutombi, who had vacated his seat as chief executive of the Roads Authority of Namibia.

Until a “substantive appointment” is made, an official statement about Shivute says he is “a seasoned project manager with over 23 years of experience leading health, safety and wellness initiatives across Namibia and the SADC region”.

This includes 17 years with the WBCG.

As the group’s project manager, he “aligned health and wellness programmes with the organisation’s strategic objectives of business development, trade facilitation and enhanced health and safety”.

He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Entrepreneurship and a Bachelor of Education (Lifelong Learning and Community Education) (Honours) from the University of Namibia, as well as a Management Development Programme Certificate from the University of Stellenbosch Business School.

The WBCG says Shivute’s extensive experience in strategic planning, financial management and stakeholder engagement, coupled with his collaborative leadership style, positioned him well to ensure continuity and stability during this transition period.
