SAFMARINE Container Lines (SCL), through its well-known brand name CMBT, has rallied to the support of Kosovo refugees by helping to transport urgently-needed medical supplies to the region.
The project is linked to the work of MSF (Medicins sans Frontieres - Doctors without Frontiers) who currently have over 400 people involved in providing medical assistance to thousands of refugees. They operate in Albania, Macedonia nd Montenegro and desperately need to transport medical and other supplies to the refugee centres.
Ten 'retired' CMBT containers have been made available to MSF. They will be refurbished in order to carry medical equipment, foodstuffs, hygiene kits and hospital beds via rail to Italy. From there they will be ferried to the Kosovo area.
