JOY ORLEK IT’S CRUNCH time for Customs fraudsters. SA Revenue Services’ Customs Compliance Unit last week swooped on three suspects charged with fraud and Customs and Excise violations. As this issue went to press on Monday morning (March 29), a further four arrests were imminent. One importer is being investigated on 2 147 counts involving more than R3.2million SARS launched its Customs Compliance Campaign in November last year when Commissioner Pravin Gordhan called on all industry stakeholders to join in a co-operative venture aimed at levelling the playing fields and establishing a precedence of good corporate governance for the future.
