THIS MONTH sees the implementation of the new DA550 document by all the country's Customs district offices.
The previous (and now wrong) documents will be abruptly rejected, following the introduction of revised procedures by SARS (SA Revenue Services). The new document consolidates the previous DA25, DA26 and DA29 into a single bill of entry export declaration.
You should also be aware of the new DA551 continuation sheet, and the DA554 voucher of correction.
If you want details of this new procedure - and readers have already been inquiring - the best source is probably the SARS web page. This you'll find at www.sars.gov.za
Open this and click the "Customs" banner to the left, followed by the "General Info" banner.
Full details of the new DA series of documents can then be found under: "Information manual on the completion of bills of entry export".
If you want to print your own, the full layout of the three new documents can be found under: "DA550, DA551, DA554 - Bills of entry export".
Note that this latest document has certain new fields that have to be completed.
