JOY ORLEK SAFMARINE HAS entered into negotiations with several black economic empowerment (BEE) companies with a view to joint ventures in relation to its landside investments. While no specifics are available at this stage, the company has signed the maritime charter locally and intends to comply fully not only with the letter but the spirit of the charter. That was the message from CEO designate Ivan Heesom-Green who confirmed to FTW in Cape Town last week that BEE ventures were in the pipeline.
