Saecs adds high season reefer capacity

February 15 will see the launch by the SA Europe Container Service (Saecs) of its Reefer Express service (Rex) to cater for the anticipated increase in refrigerated exports. The Rex service is an additional, purely reefer container service designed to provide added capacity during the peak reefer season months of February to August. Rex vessels will call Cape Town, Rotterdam (Uniport), Tilbury, Cape Town. The DAL Madagascar will be the first vessel to be phased in followed by the Warnow Vaquita. The service will be flexed in terms of frequency and ports of call according to the seasonal demands of the perishable market and will supplement the capacity provided by the main weekly Saecs core service. Saecs members include Safmarine, Maersk Line, Deutsche Afrika Linien (DAL) and MOL.
